Schwalbe - Strong Commitment to the Gravity section

20 March 2014  |

In 2014, Schwalbe wants to build on last year's great success in the Downhill, Enduro and Freeride/Dirt events. 18 teams from five continents and numerous individual athletes will be racing on Schwalbe tyres. This makes Schwalbe the most strongly represented tyre brand in the MTB WorldCup.

The 2013 Season produced three WorldCup Overall Winners, the Canadian Steve Smith leading the way with his downhill triumph. In addition, there were five individual wins in the WorldCup, as well as the victory in the TransProvence and the Junior World Champion title for Tahnée Seagrave from Great Britain. "This year, we want to repeat these success stories. We are fully committed to achieving this goal", says Michael Kull from Schwalbe Marketing. Together with the Schwalbe technicians, he looks after the teams and tests the new developments in tyre technology together with the riders. This is also how the latest innovation of the tyre specialist, the revolutionary dual chamber system, was created.

The Downhill Dream Team:

Steve Smith and Magic Mary

The overall victory in the 2013 WorldCup went to Steve Smith and his Devinci Global Racing Team in a nail-biting finale. The team will do everything possible to defend the title this year. For Steve Smith, no tyre compares to Magic Mary: "I can't imagine taking part in the WorldCup races without my Magic Mary and the selection of carcasses and compounds. The chaps at Schwalbe really know their business. They always provide me with the tyres I need to win."

Attacks will also be ridden by Sam Hill and the CRC/Nukeproof Team, who think they stand a good chance of achieving one or the other place on the podium. Brendan Fairclough (Gstaad-Scott) and the Giant Factory Off-Road Team led by ex-World Champion Danny Hart, also put their faith in Schwalbe, as does Lapierre Gravity Republic with Loic Bruni and Sam Blekinsop.

Tahnée Seagrave (FMD Racing), Junior World Champion and Junior Overall WorldCup Winner, also belongs to the Schwalbe athletes.

Enduro in an upward trend

For a few years now, there has been an upward trend in Enduro racing. Nico Lau, the winner of the Trans Provence and the Megavalanche La Réunion, is once again riding on Schwalbe this year, as is his Cube Action Team. The Giant Factory Off-Road Team wants to follow up the successes of 2013 with Adam Craig and Josh Carlson. The Italian Super Enduro Winner Manuel Ducci (Life Cycles) is a new member of the Schwalbe racing family. In addition, Schwalbe supports individual riders.

Freeride/Dirt

Timo Pritzel and the Table Top – a very close and long relationship. This year, Timo will again be riding on Schwalbe and looking after his Scott Voltage Team. Kurt Sorge and Nico Vink will attack in the slopestyle events and the InFocus Crew will once again provide their fans with breathtaking videos.
